Maggy Ioannou is a ceramic sculptress living and working in Greece. She studied Graphic Design and after a long career as Art Director in advertising she came full circle in 2016 and devoted herself to the art of ceramic sculpting. She studied ceramics with the renowned Greek ceramist Marilena Mihopoulou, attended numerous workshops and refined her skills in porcelain and ceramic sculpting. She has taken part in various group exhibitions, showcasing her work. She is talented and passionate, hard working and restless. Her art is playful, emotional and highly symbolic, inspired by the human form that transcends cultural and historical monuments and by nature’s fauna and flora that she dearly loves and respects. When not in her studio she can be seen sketching whatever intrigues her on the sketchbook she always keeps at hand.

My art is outspoken and emotional even though I am a naturally shy person. Art offers me this silent and subtle communication channel that I need in order to engage with the viewer and trigger their emotions in response.
